Rent a Car in Medellín
Renting a car in Medellín is the fastest way to see Antioquia on your own schedule: Guatapé, Santa Fe de Antioquia, Jardín or the coffee farms around the city. Exotic Rent a Car is a local company with a 21-car fleet, free delivery anywhere in the Aburrá Valley, English-speaking support on WhatsApp and no mandatory credit card. Minimum rental is 48 hours, with daily, weekly and monthly rates.

Requirements for foreigners
You need your passport, an original, valid driver’s license and to be at least 21 (25 for premium cars; some top models require 28 to 30). A foreign license is valid as long as you have been in Colombia for less than six months — the latest entry stamp in your passport is proof enough. An International Driving Permit is only required when your license is not written in the Latin alphabet.
The security deposit can be left in cash, by bank transfer or with a credit card —the card is optional, never mandatory— and ranges from 2,500,000 COP for mid-range cars to 3,000,000 COP for high-end models. It is refunded within 8 business days after the rental ends, once traffic-camera reports are cleared; refunds are not issued back to cards. Driving in Medellín and our fleet
Driving here is straightforward once you know two things: pico y placa (a rotating weekday restriction based on your plate number) and the two roads to the airport — Túnel de Oriente, with about 26,000 COP in tolls, or Vía Las Palmas, with about 18,000 COP. For families and mountain roads, the 4x4 SUVs and 7-seater SUVs are the safe choice.
