What is the minimum rental period?

The minimum rental is 2 days (48 hours). The vehicle is reserved with one day's rental as a deposit and the balance is paid upon delivery to your address within Medellín's metropolitan area.

What payment methods do you accept?

We accept cash in Colombian pesos, US dollars and euros; bank transfers to Bancolombia and Davivienda accounts; any foreign account; and credit and debit cards through our online payment gateway.

For the security deposit, a credit card is optional, never mandatory: you can also leave it in cash or by bank transfer, for the same amount.

What requirements do I need to rent a vehicle?

To rent a vehicle in Medellín with Exotic Rent A Car you need:

  • To be at least 21 (25 for premium cars; some top-end models require 28 to 30).
  • An original, physical, valid driver's license. A foreign license is valid as long as you have been in Colombia for less than 6 months — the latest entry stamp in your passport is proof enough.
  • A valid ID card or passport.
  • A security deposit of 2,500,000 COP for mid-range cars and 3,000,000 COP for high-end models, which you can leave in cash, by bank transfer or with a credit card: the card is optional, never mandatory.

Minimum rental is 48 hours (2 days).

Does the price include taxes and other fees?

The published rate covers the vehicle rental. Additional charges may apply depending on the length of the rental, trips outside Medellín, tolls, fuel and optional services such as a driver.

Delivery and pick-up are free across the Aburrá Valley and at Olaya Herrera airport (EOH); at José María Córdova airport (MDE, Rionegro) there is a fee per trip. We send you the full quote before confirming the booking.

Do you offer home delivery and pickup in Medellín?

Yes. We bring the car to your hotel, home, office or restaurant in El Poblado, Laureles, Envigado, Sabaneta, Itagüí and the rest of the Aburrá Valley at no extra cost. Delivery and pick-up at Olaya Herrera airport (EOH) are also free.

At José María Córdova international airport (MDE, Rionegro) there is a fee per trip: 130,000 COP daytime, 160,000 COP at night, or 250,000 COP for both trips.

Can foreigners rent a car?

Yes. You need a valid passport and your original home-country driver's license, which is valid as long as you have been in Colombia for less than 6 months — the latest entry stamp in your passport is proof enough. An International Driving Permit is only required if your license is not written in the Latin alphabet.

We do not require a credit card: the security deposit can be left in cash or by bank transfer. We accept payments in Colombian pesos, US dollars and euros, which makes booking from abroad easier.
